Bangalore

Mysore
Mysore lies in the south of Bangalore and it is one of the biggest cities in Karnataka. Mahishuru is the colloquial name of Mysore. Positioned at the foot of the Chamundi Hills, Mysore has a most picturesque locale. Here is where you come across plenty of traditional art forms and folklore. The festivities there substantiate their unique tradition in this regard. Dusserhra is the principle one. The coffee estates, little markets and many temples are other treats of this place.
Kabini
Kabini is a mystic place on the banks of the river of same name where it is difficult to view the sky due to its abundant greenery. The place is amazingly beautiful that until one sees it is hard to believe the existence of such an ambience. It is yet another wildlife destination situated in Karnataka. This river links the three national parks of Madhumati, Nagorhole and Bandipur. As a hunting seclusion of Kings belonging to yesteryears it recalls the days in which brave princes gallop on horseback through the thick forests. It is now one of the favourite camping spots of tourists, a place where they can unwind the unwanted traces of city life.
Bandipur
Bandipur is situated in the south of Karnataka and abodes one of the oldest tiger reserve in India. Formerly called as Venugopala Wildlife Park it got the name of Bandipur National Park in the year of 1973 after the launching of Project tiger. This wildlife reserve is connected to Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary and that in Wayanad. It is difficult not to fall in love with the enormous stretch of pure beauty. Bandipur Bunglaw is an abode of summer campers.
Belur
Belur situated on the banks of River Yagachi has a quaint place in history as it was the capital of Hoysala Empire. It presents an amazing trip filled with exotic temples. Chennakesava temple complex is a major landmark in Belur and it houses the Chennakesava Temple which is devoted to Lord Vishnu. It has scores of minuscule carvings of scenes from epic books, elephants and of gods. Another such enthralling temple in Belur is the Veeranarayana Temple.
Halebid
Halebid around 16 kms from Belur is situated in the Hassan district of Karnataka. It is known for its stunning religious shrines set on a raised podium. Centuries back it was known as Dwarasamudra. Until the 12th century it was the capital of Hoysala Empire. The city fell to ruins after the invasion of Mughals in the 14th century. The hoysaleswara temple is a magnificent temple complex and pride of Halebid which consists of 2 Hindu Temples and 2 Jain Temples. It was a mark of secularism at the time.
Shravanabelagola
Shravanabelagola is situated in the Hassan district in Karnataka. The name means the white pond of Jain Monk. Shravanabelagola as a striking pilgrim centre of Jains is characterized by little Jain temples. The monolith of Lord Bahubali which is the tallest of its kinds in the world is located in Shravanbelagola. It has a height of 27 metres. It is also known for the inscriptions found there dating back to 6th century AD.
Hampi
Hampi is a stunning place with stone wrought sculptures located in the northern part of karnataka. They are pure poetry etched in huge stones and are indeed a sight to behold. It is a heritage city which was once the capital of the glorious empire of Vijayanagara. The breath taking ruins of this place today is viewed as an expansive open air museum. Some of the other highlights of this place are Purandaradasa Mantapa, Mahanavami Dibba, Hampi Boulders, Badavilinga Temple, Kamalapura, Tungabhadra River, Vijayanagar Architecture etc.
The city is in ruins at present. But nobody can overlook the fact that it was once one of the richest in the country and had many assets to flaunt. The empire flourished exceptionally well under the rule of the renowned Krishnadevaraya who has expanded his kingdom beyond the boundaries of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
Badami
Badami also known as Vatapi was the nucleus of the age-old Chalukyan grandeur dating back to 540AD. It was a main centre of Chalukyan art. The four cave temples bearing manifestations of Shiva, Avatars of Vishnu and Mahavira represent the secular attitude of rulers back then. The archaeological museum and Badami Fort perched on a hillock are other praiseworthy visions of this place.
Goa
Goa is one name which is at the tip of every globetrotter’s tongue as the ultimate haven of tourists. India is proud of this place lying in the coastal belt of Konkan in West India.
